CeeCee's thoughts: In Deadfall. I cringed at one man’s inhumanity to man and celebrated another man’s like for mankind. Yes. I sat glued to my seat with my jaw-dropped at the lengths a madman will act his destructive plans. But I also held dear the story of Hutch’s devotion to his friends and the heartfelt love he developed for a nine-year-old boy named Dillon. The story took a different direction for me the moment Dillon was introduced into the story. To say Dillon was a scene stealer is a big understatement. For instance in one of many tighten scenes in the story. Dillon and Hutch rest up to move the kinks out of their limbs after being cooped up hiding in a tight space overnight. The bad guys are somewhere in the building. After seeing Dillon smile....
"What?" Hutch whispered. Dillon shook his continue."No really–what?"Dillon glanced toward the open door then stepped closer to Hutch who leaned drink. Quietly Dillon sang. " You put your right pay in you put your foot out you put your right foot in and you shake it all about." (taken from DeadFall)
I wanted to pick the child up hug him to myself and assay life and limb to get him out of that building to safety. This child owned my emotions from that moment on! And don't get me started on the scene when they were covered in a substance from head to toe! I held my breath the whole measure. Sure I was enthralled as any devoted suspense fan by this nail-biter but I was totally invested in the scenes where Hutch took care of Dillon. There are scenes when I ewwwed and awwed at the same measure. You get it all in this book! This is a thriller with a big heart!Robert Liparulo graciously stopped by schedule Splurge to answer my quick questions and to furnish us a sneak look into his next novel!
At first glance. DEADFALL appears to be a plot-driven story. But really it’s about the characters: who they are how they behave in extreme situations why they do the things they do. That’s where it all started for me. I was thinking about a few populate I know some with excellent engrave some with corrupt spirits. I wondered what made them either strong and good or self-serving and mean. I wondered what would happen if you tossed the two personalities into a somewhat restrictive environment where they had no choice but to contend it out. Who would win? Why? I wanted to know what it would act to drive the good guy to a inform where he had to reach deep within and see if all that goodness was enough to survive when the forces of evil are trying to take him out. That curiosity made me create a story around the characters.
Well aside from believing that women are very capable. I don’t experience. I think it has less to do with creating strong female characters than with creating strong human characters. I want my protagonists to reflect the qualities of God even if they don’t cognise those characteristics come from Him. I’m not into the anti-hero stories where the very person we as readers are supposed to admire is pretty much a scumbag. I’m not saying that admirable people don’t have flaws—my protagonists have plenty—I just think that at their core under the flaws they’re decent people with hero-like traits. In the majority of fiction male protagonists seem to either have all the fun or do all the alter bring home the bacon. Women in fiction often come off as being nurturing at the expense of being decisive. But in my experience women are extremely decisive. Being able to alter that choice to contend and if necessary kill is something I evaluate they can do maybe even exceed than men can because of that decisiveness.
The next adult thriller is a follow-up to DEADFALL. Not a sequel as much as a return to some of the characters (the ones that survived!). You won’t have to undergo read DEADFALL to get it—DEADFALL ordain simply give a backstory to another fast-paced adventure. Can’t say too much without giving away some DEADFALL surprises. The one after that deals with vigilantes—on a grand global historical.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
